How will the incident affect the Olympics?

Last Sunday, hackers attacked the central data system of the Grand Palais exhibition center in Paris and 40 other museums of the Réunion des Musées Nationaux network throughout France.

Among the victims were the Grand Palais and Chateau de Versailles, where the Olympic events are currently taking place. The Grand Palais hosts fencing and taekwondo competitions, while Versailles, a former royal residence built by decree of Louis XIV, hosts modern pentathlon and equestrian events.

The Paris authorities assured that the attack did not affect the holding of Olympic events. The Cybercrime Team is investigating the incident.

According to the FranceInfo radio station, the attackers demand a ransom within 48 hours, otherwise threatening to publish encrypted financial data obtained from the network of museums.

The Louvre Museum said it was not affected by the attack.
