The new feature is designed to protect smartphone owners from disclosing sensitive information.
Google plans to improve the security of users of its Chrome browser on Android by introducing a new feature that will hide confidential information when recording a screen, showing it, and other similar actions. This feature will be especially useful for those who use Chrome to work with sensitive data, such as passwords and credit card details.
Currently, Chrome does not allow you to capture screen content in incognito mode, but when using regular tabs, this protection is not available. This may lead to a leak of personal data when recording or showing the screen. To solve this problem, Google is testing an experimental feature that automatically hides sensitive data on the screen.
The feature is called "Redact sensitive content during screen sharing, screen recording and similar actions". It is designed to automatically hide the entire content area of the screen when fields containing sensitive information, such as passwords or credit card numbers, are found on the page. This new feature will only be available on devices running Android 15 and higher.
Currently, the feature is in the testing phase and does not work fully yet, however, in the coming weeks it will be possible to try it out in the test version of the Chrome Canary browser. In addition, Chrome for Android has noticed a new option that allows you to close all incognito mode tabs at once. It also aims to improve the security and usability of the browser.
It is expected that both features will be available to a wide range of users in a future update of Chrome for Android, but the exact release date is not yet known.
