The cyber police exposed scammers who, while in jail, sold cars for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As a result of criminal actions, the military suffered.

According to law enforcement officers, the "scheme" was organized by two residents of the Sumy region, who are serving their sentences in one of the institutions of the regional center.

Attracting accomplices to criminal activities on the "will", fraudsters placed ads for the sale of non-cleared cars on popular online platforms.

The main condition of purchase was a subscription in the amount of 2 to 10 thousand hryvnias.

Currently, 10 victims have been identified, including servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The total amount of damage is about 200 thousand hryvnias .

As of now, according to the police, 13 searches have been conducted. Withdrawn:
  • computer equipment,
  • data storage devices,
  • mobile phones,
  • bank and sim cards,
  • documentation and "draft" entries,
  • cash and cash equivalents,
  • ammunition for firearms.

The organizers of the "scheme" are suspected under Part 3 of Article 190 (fraud) of the Criminal Code. If proven guilty, suspects face up to 5 years in prison.
