Hi, we haven't had any productive thoughts for a long time. Well, I have prepared a topic for you that everyone knows for sure.

Where to start .. Probably with the fact that everything is bad. The brave new world has presented us with a bunch of opportunities, and it is precisely these opportunities that drive a fat nail into the coffin of our human potential. A bit paradoxical. And all because of one interesting thing called FOMO. I think it can rightly be called an emotion, although our compatriots have successfully dubbed FOMO syndrome.

From English "Fear of Missing out" is translated as "fear of being overboard", and if officially - the syndrome of missed opportunity. This is not a disease in any way, although it can lead to serious mental disorders. As I mentioned above, this is rather a completely new emotion - a cross between envy, fear with a pinch of self-doubt. The term itself is new - he is only 17 years old, but the emotion is bearded - since the dawn of civilization. Personally, I would suggest looking at FOMO in two paradigms - global and more local. Local is about marketing and more material benefits. Global FOMO is about priorities in life and higher matters. I'll explain everything now.

How does loss of profit syndrome work? There are always two choices before you. Take an action or not take it. The simplest thing is to buy something. Let's say you are planning to buy a great robot vacuum cleaner. You wind yourself up with fantasies about how wonderful this device is and how cool and convenient your life will be if you buy it. On the other side of the scale, the cost of the apparatus is 50 pieces. Rationally, you kind of understand that well, he nafig, but add to this a promotional special offer from a consultant and you will already be afraid to go home empty-handed. This is a relatively weak FOMO at the level of intangible potentially lost benefits. The strongest FOMO is when money is at stake.

The best example is investment. Be it starting your own business, or buying any shares. Again, the choice is to do or not to do. Potential risk and potential profit. Moreover, profit, with the help of our rich imagination, is often exaggerated and romanticized, and potential risks seem not only insignificant, but rather an event with 0 probability. In short, FOMO pushes us into very irrational actions. Okay, if we are thinking about investing in real estate, but imagine that this is some kind of shitty crypt, or binary options.

Because of FOMO, it seems to us that the benefit is already in our pockets and we only have to do a certain algorithm of actions to get it. And there are supposedly no risks at all. And the most important thing about the loss of profit syndrome is the element of envy. When you see an opportunity, it seems to you that it should be exclusively yours. And the thought that someone will benefit without you is extremely painful. Now about more global things.

FOMO is a product of media and, in general, the entire field of communications. Now the media are at their peak, with social media at the forefront. Thanks to this and, in particular, the popularity of Instagram, FOMO has become a global problem. He gave birth to millions of so-called FOMO men, which most of us are. Probably, in part, even me.

What's the point? These are people who, under the influence of external factors, have formed an ideal picture of their life. They have seen enough of successful success and believe that only what is shown on glamorous Instagram is true happiness. Billions of money in the account, a car - at least a lamb, a wife / husband - a super-cute fit-baby, a global business, and if there are children, then only the winners "The smartest". And if reality diverges from this picture, FOMO man suffers. He is constantly dissatisfied with himself, tries to grab any opportunity, envies and constantly belittles the achievements of those who succeed. Such a FOMO worldview is sheer destructive. If in local situations, the loss of profit syndrome is still the norm, then chronic life with FOMO is a bad life. Why?
