Using machine learning, you can detect anomalies in real time.

IBM announced a new generation of cyberthreat protection technology for its solid-state drives-the fourth-generation FlashCore Module (FCM4). Its distinctive feature is the integration of artificial intelligence methods for detecting and blocking malicious programs, in particular ransomware.

Thanks to the use of machine learning, FCM4 is able to detect and classify cyber attacks in less than a minute, IBM says. The technology is based on real-time analysis of statistics for each individual data input / output operation and instant detection of deviations from the normal operating mode. This allows you to quickly respond to threats and minimize the impact of attacks by detecting and localizing the problem in a timely manner.

In addition to direct monitoring, IBM Storage Insights software integrated with FCM4 monitors additional parameters such as compression ratio, randomness, and entropy of data. This makes it possible to detect suspicious activity at the earliest stages. Together, hardware and software protection methods using AI technologies significantly increase the speed of response to threats compared to traditional solutions.

As conceived by IBM, the new development is focused primarily on the corporate segment and is not yet available to ordinary consumers. But for mission - critical tasks such as detecting and blocking ransomware attacks, it is already showing high efficiency.
