Headphones have become a decisive factor in the search for a luxury car.

The Waterbury Police Department (Connecticut, USA) has detained two criminals suspected of a series of thefts of expensive cars. One of the stolen vehicles was a $575,000 2023 Ferrari stolen on September 16 at Greenwich.

Law enforcement officers were able to track the location of the stolen car thanks to the owner's AirPods headphones left in the cabin. A special anti-theft team found a Ferrari at a gas station on South Main Street. During an attempt to detain him, the suspect fled, leaving his iPhone in the car. With the help of the found phone, the police managed to identify the hijacker - 22-year-old Dion Shontten from Waterbury.

A few days later, the police found another stolen car - a 2023 Acura, which was wanted in New York. On suspicion of involvement in the theft, 19-year-old Keon Webster and Dion Shontten, already known to the investigation, were detained. The investigation showed that both suspects alternately drove the stolen car.

Shontten has been charged with stealing a car for the second time, and Webster has been charged with stealing a car for the seventh time. Waterbury Police Chief Fernando Spagnolo said: "Keon Webster is well known to law enforcement. As an adult, he already has seven outstanding charges related to car theft and other serious crimes".

The court set bail for Shuntten at $150,000 and for Webster at $300,000. The police continue to investigate the possible involvement of the detainees in other cases of car theft.
