The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reports that since June 2021, the Hive ransomware group has hacked more than 1,300 companies and extorted about $100 million from victims.

Worse, law enforcement warns that Hive operators often deploy additional payloads of other ransomware on their victims' networks if they refuse to pay the ransom.

The latest security bulletin on Hive operations was prepared by the FBI, the US Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Agency (CISA) and the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

According to the FBI, Hive victims include organizations from a wide variety of industries and critical infrastructure sectors, including government agencies, telecoms, and IT companies, although organizations working in the healthcare sector are most often attacked by hackers.

Although not all Hive ransomware attacks are listed on the ID Ransomware platform, since the beginning of this year, victims have indeed sent more than 850 malware samples to specialists. Many of these were provided after a notable spike in ransomware activity that lasted from late March to mid-April.
