Even the most attentive user can easily fall for the hook of scammers.

According to the ESET report, the number of attacks in which hackers use the messenger to extort money from users has increased. ESET experts said that scammers trick users into disclosing personal information, downloading malware, or making payments to fraudulent accounts.

Some of the most common WhatsApp scams include phishing, where scammers send messages on behalf of a trusted source, such as a business account. The message encourages the victim to click on the link or asks the recipient for personal information.

There has also been an increase in the number of romance scams, in which scammers use WhatsApp and other dating sites to gain the trust of victims and then ask them for money.

ESET warns WhatsApp users to be wary of incoming messages. It is also important to set up two-step profile verification. In addition, you should not disclose your personal information, account and bank details to WhatsApp.
