Switching to manual operations increases the risk of errors and delivery delays.

The transport company Estes Express Lines, based in the American city of Richmond, Virginia, recently disclosed information about a cyber attack that caused a failure in its IT infrastructure.

On October 2, the company notified its customers about the problems, and the very next day it was confirmed that they were caused by a cyber attack.

Estes Express Lines expressed its gratitude to customers and suppliers for their patience during this difficult time. "We are working as quickly as possible to resolve this issue and return to normal business operations," the company said.

Although Estes representatives have not yet made detailed statements, they claim that their terminals and drivers continue to work effectively even in the current cyber incident.

Satish Jindel, an expert in LTL cargo transportation, noted the severity of such incidents for transport companies. Attacks can limit the visibility of a company's operations and even stop its financial turnover. This is especially true for LTL carriers, which depend on their own systems to organize routes in real time.

"Now I have to rely on manual processes. This is time-consuming and does not exclude errors," says Jindel.

He also stressed that while a cyberattack on a transportation company is different from an attack on a bank or hospital systems, it can also compromise employee and customer data, as well as delay critical cargo.
