Employees of the BSTM of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia stopped the activities of an extensive network of communication centers that were used for remote fraud.
Operatives of the BSTM of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, together with investigators of the Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, colleagues from the Chuvash Republic and 12 other regions of the country, with the assistance of employees of the FSB of Russia, eliminated a network of illegal communication centers. With its help, attackers who were abroad were able to anonymously commit crimes on the territory of our country.
"It was preliminarily established that the criminal scheme operated on the territory of 13 subjects. The members of the organized group acted on the instructions of an anonymous curator who was outside the Russian Federation. He recruited young people through the Internet and gave them SIM boxes in a contactless way, with the help of which the callers' numbers were changed to Russian ones.
The accomplices installed equipment in rented apartments, ensured its configuration and regular replacement of blocked SIM cards. In order to hide the location of the SIM boxes, every few days they were transported to another place", said the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.
As a result of the searches, operatives seized 39 units of network equipment. 26 people who may be involved in illegal activities were taken to police units.
"Currently, the police are aware of more than eight thousand numbers that were used by the participants in the criminal scheme. With their help, at least a hundred frauds and other illegal acts were committed.
Criminal cases on these crimes have been requested by the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia from the investigative bodies of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation to be combined into one proceeding", Irina Volk said.
