It is possible that valuable data was stolen from the company's networks, but which ones…

The Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company Cencora, in documents for the US Securities and Exchange Commission, reported that it had identified unauthorized access and withdrawal of information from its IT systems.

As stated in the document, "On February 21, 2024, Cencora Inc. discovered that some data was illegally obtained from its information systems, some of which may contain personal information."

Cencora assured that it immediately took localization measures and launched an investigation with the assistance of law enforcement agencies, cybersecurity experts and external lawyers. According to representatives, this incident did not have a significant impact on operational activities.

The corporation formerly known as AmerisourceBergen is headquartered in Pennsylvania. It employs 46,000 employees and generated revenue of $ 262.2 billion in 2023.

The statement to the regulator did not specify the nature of the hack.

Several pharmaceutical firms have been targeted by cybercriminals in recent months. The attack on Change Healthcare last week led to disruptions in pharmacies across America. Last year, Japanese pharmaceutical giant Eisai reported that hackers had encrypted some of its most important servers. And confidential data was stolen from the systems of India's Sun Pharmaceuticals.
