A Singapore court has formally charged members of a group that developed a major malicious campaign against residents of the country with fraud. Local media reported that two Malaysian citizens aged 26 and 47 were in the dock.

The campaign began in June 2023. Cybercriminals tricked their victims into downloading a malicious application onto their devices, after which they took control of them and gained access to banking software. In Singapore, at least 1,899 cases were reported, and the total amount stolen was at least 34.1 million Singapore dollars (approximately 2.24 billion rubles).

By November 2023, local security forces formed an investigation team, which a few months later managed to trace the suspects found in Malaysia, where they were arrested on June 12, 2024. Two days later, both cybercriminals were extradited to Singapore. The intelligence services also managed to shut down 52 servers associated with software distribution and arrest 14 drops in Hong Kong.

It is noted that four more members of the group were arrested in Taiwan. Cryptocurrency and real estate worth a total of $1.33 million were seized from them.
