Cybercriminals spend as much time preparing for the biggest sale of the year as retailers and shoppers. Antivirus and payment fraud experts talked about what to watch out for during the sale .

Buyers

A study by the antivirus software provider ESET found that users often ignore the security of online purchases, making them easy targets for hackers. Criminals will try to trick online shoppers into billing by sending them phishing emails with promotional offers.

Some criminals even create copies of popular retailers' apps.

Experts advise not to buy goods from e-mail, as well as avoid offers that are too lucrative, which are often bait.

Traditional shops

They can suffer from ModPOS malware, which infects POS systems and can imperceptibly compromise any information that enters the trading terminal, up to the text that is entered on the keyboard.

The 50 largest US trade brands are now actively checking their systems for this virus.

Online retailers

During the period of massive sales, it is important for online stores to keep their sites working. For cybercriminals, this is a reason to block the portal and demand a ransom from the retailer for the resumption of the trading platform.

Also, criminals will try to cash out funds from previously stolen credit cards.
