Who is behind the attack, the details of which are carefully hidden?

The German air traffic control service Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) was the victim of a cyberattack that paralyzed the company's office communications. At the same time, air traffic control operations were not affected. Reportedly, the APT28 hacker group may be behind the attack.

A DFS spokesperson told the media that the attack was discovered last week, after which the company sent an internal notification about the defeat of its systems. At the moment, measures are being taken to protect against further threats. However, specific details about the attacked systems and the defensive actions taken were not disclosed. At the same time, DFS stressed that the incident did not affect safety and air traffic control.

Media reports indicate the possible involvement of APT28 in the attack, but DFS representatives did not comment on these statements. The German authorities notified of the incident, but the Ministry of Transport, under whose jurisdiction the DFS is located, declined to comment, citing the need to obtain information directly from the DFS. The Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution confirmed the attack and launched an investigation, but details about the possible culprits have not yet been disclosed.

The limited provision of information in such cases is explained by the fact that premature disclosure of data can harm the progress of the investigation. In addition, the publication of information about protective measures can give attackers clues about weaknesses in the protection system.
