Large-scale exercises Blue OLEx 2023 have started.

On Monday, the European Commission (EC) began conducting exercises to counter large-scale cyber attacks.

The exercise is attended by high-level representatives on cybersecurity issues from EU member States, the (European) Commission and the European Union's Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA). The exercise is called Blue OLEx 2023 and lasts for two days. They are aimed at "testing the EU's readiness in the event of a crisis related to cyberspace," the media reported.

The exercises are held as part of the EU-CyCLONe (Cyber crises liaison organization network), a network of European national authorities responsible for countering cyber crises.

The EU-CyCLONe network is supposed to complement existing cybersecurity structures at the EU level and help implement the European Commission's action plan for a rapid response to a "large-scale incident or cross-border cybersecurity crisis".

Participants also plan to discuss strategic aspects of cyber policy, in particular, how to " form a consistent crisis management structure at the EU level."
