Courts are most often fined for illegal access to computer information

Last year, 221 people were convicted in cases of illegal access to computer information, according to official statistics from the Judicial Department of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.

At the same time, in 2022, the number of people convicted under this article was less — 179 people.

According to the Suddep, the most frequent type of punishment for illegal access to computer information is a fine (87 convicts). 61 people were sentenced to restriction of freedom in 2023, and 49 convicts were given suspended sentences. At the same time, only 7 convicts received prison sentences.

In total, 333 people were convicted of crimes in the field of computer information last year.
