In recent years, Asian countries have been actively involved in the development and adoption of modern technologies. The region is actively introducing biometric security systems, using mobile payment terminals and developing e-commerce. Also, the Asia-Pacific region is actively switching to contactless payments.

Only in 2021. the use of contactless cards in the region increased by 49%.

Almost 2/3 of contactless payments are made in Australia. Last year, the number of users of microchip cards increased by 45%.

Singapore is also performing well, preparing to catch up with Australia. In 2021 the number of smart cards in the country has more than doubled. A third of the country's retail outlets support contactless payments.

Hong Kong quadrupled its contactless payments last year, thanks to marketing firm MasterCard.

In New Zealand, contactless technology is also becoming a trend. Service users find it easy to use and save time.

The MasterCard commented that the volume of contactless payments in the region will grow until not displace cash transactions, which are gradually withdraw from the market.

Developing countries are gradually moving towards new payment technologies, including mobile payments and payments through mobile payment terminals.

Earlier it was reported that residents of the Philippines are most interested in contactless payments.
