Chinese police have arrested a group of scammers who sold old video cards as new - they bought old video cards in bulk, cleaned them, packed them in new boxes, and sold the devices as new in the domestic market.

In total, law enforcement agencies detained 22 people. As part of the investigation, it turned out that electronics experts as part of the group also checked the devices and carried out the necessary cosmetic repairs to graphics adapters, which were then sold at inflated prices and positioned as new video cards.

The operation of the Chinese police to detain this group of scammers lasted about a year. Investigators found that mainly video cards that were previously used in mining farms were purchased for updating and reselling.

Police said the scammers operated in a complex pattern to make them difficult to identify. They divided their activities among several groups. The first group was engaged in the purchase of video cards, the second carried out the inspection, cleaning and tinting of the chips to give them the appearance of new ones. The third group of scammers specialized in packaging graphics adapters in branded boxes. The fourth part of the group of scammers was engaged in the sale of video cards through online stores and to retail customers on social networks.

During a search of the warehouse of fraudsters, the police seized several thousand video cards worth about $ 2 million. Police detained seven members of the group of fraudsters, they were charged with criminal charges under Chinese law.
