Fans of the popular Action / RPG game run the risk of stopping development... at least inside the game.

Genshin Impact, a popular open-world Action / RPG game, has amassed a huge player base since its release in 2020. However, the recent and disturbing news shocked the entire gaming community.

Users of the Chinese bestseller server actively complain about the actions of intruders who, during a joint game, use a malicious exploit under the secret name "Kaveh" to permanently remove important in-game elements from the world of victims.

These elements are essential for completing side quests and exploring the world. Their absence leads to the inability of players to continue developing their account, which is why any interest in the game is lost, and the player profile itself risks remaining "broken" forever.

In Genshin Impact, players ' progress is stored on the servers of the developer company HoYoverse (formerly miHoYo), and even for solo exploration of the world and completing tasks, gamers need an active Internet connection, as well as authorization through their own account.

In addition, the game has a cooperative mode for up to four people, which allows you to perform a certain range of activities together with other players, including strangers.

Any bugs that somehow interfere with the passage of a certain segment of the game are usually solved by simply exiting the game session and re-entering it. When as a current network incident — much more serious.

According to a Reddit user under the nickname "AntonioS3", the new vulnerability allows hackers to delete objects of world exploration in someone else's game, such as chests and statues, which leads to blocking further research progress on the account, even if the player completely deletes and reinstalls the game.

Although only Chinese Genshin Impact players are currently affected by the issue, users around the world are advised not to join a cooperative game with strangers, as well as not to let them enter their world until HoYoverse officially comments on the situation or releases a fix.

Meanwhile, the Genshin Impact community is actively sounding the alarm. Channels in Discord and social networks warn players about the dangers of the new exploit. So far, gamers remain in the dark, not knowing when the solution will be implemented, and whether it will be implemented in principle.

Hackers who ruin the lives of ordinary gamers are not a new phenomenon. Earlier, we reported on how the popular Call of Duty franchise faced attacks from intruders who could infect players ' computers with malware through the in-game lobby.
UPD: representatives of HoYoverse commented on the situation on their official Twitter account *. The developers confirmed the problem and even managed to fix it, "fixing" all the accounts of the affected players. To be fair, they did it much faster than Activision, which ignored the problem for five years .

Genshin Impact is one of the most popular games in the world at the moment. One of the reasons for this popularity is the full cross-platform nature of the game, which allows players to enjoy the beauty of Teyvat together from mobile devices on Android and iOS, as well as from PC, Xbox and PlayStation.
