Unscrupulous hackers broke the rules and are trying to make money from children.

Children's Hospital in Chicago Lurie Children's Hospital faced a cyberattack, as a result of which IT systems had to be shut down, which caused disruptions in normal operation and delayed medical services.

Lurie Children's Hospital is one of the leading children's healthcare facilities in the United States, with 360 beds, more than 1,665 doctors in 70 specialties, and approximately 4,000 healthcare professionals. More than 200,000 children are treated here every year.

The hospital announced the cybersecurity incident via its website and social media, announcing that it had taken measures to disable systems to prevent the attack from spreading.

The statement says that the situation is being taken very seriously. The investigation is being conducted with the support of leading experts and in cooperation with law enforcement agencies. In addition to the network outage, Internet systems, email systems, telephone services and access to the MyChat platform were affected. People in emergency situations are advised to contact 911 or the nearest emergency department.

Despite the incident, the hospital continues to provide medical services, trying to minimize interruptions. Delays in scheduled procedures, unavailability of ultrasound and CT results are noted, and prescriptions are issued in paper form. The hospital adheres to the principle of on-the-go service, giving priority to emergencies.

So far, none of the ransomware groups has claimed responsibility for the attack. Despite the stated rules prohibiting attacks on medical facilities, various groups continue to violate these provisions for financial gain.
