If you need your phone and the programs on it to think that you are in a different place than your actual location, then this article will tell you how to spoof a GPS. You can "teleport" to any place on planet Earth by setting a fake GPS value, and any application will think that you are there.

Among the programs that use the current GPS value and which can be fooled by this instruction, there may be:
  • various services showing any objects directly near you
  • a camera that will write fake location values into the photo metadata
  • apps showing your coordinates or location on the map
  • social networks, with the "check-in" function - you can check in anywhere in the world
By the way, we don't need root rights for this!

We have verified that this method works on Android 4.2.1. In general, the method is very simple and after setting it allows you to set your fake location on the phone with just two clicks.

Enabling developer options
We need to allow the firmware to use a fake location - this option is not available in the normal settings menu, to get to this option you need to activate the "Developer" mode. To do this, in the settings, go to the "About phone" item (usually this is the lowest item in the Settings) and click on the "Build number" item seven times:

After the first two clicks, a small pop-up window will appear with the inscription: "You are ... steps away from becoming a developer."

The item "About the phone", depending on the phone model, may be called "About the device", there may also be an additional intermediate item "Information about the software" - it is in it that you need to look for the "Build number".

Now in the main settings menu you will see the item "{} For developers":

Go into it and put a tick on the "Fictitious locations":

Disable the GPS sensor in your phone settings:

GPS signal spoofing software
Install the Fake GPS location program (available in the Play Store).

Open it and select any location on the map:

You can use search to enter the location you want, or move the map to find what you need:

When checked, click on the green button at the bottom right of the screen.

The program will immediately start working, and will collapse itself. It can be accessed in the list of recently launched applications by clicking on its icon or from the curtain:

To stop faking your location, click on the Pause button in the curtain, or go into the program and click the button at the bottom left of the screen:

While the program is running, all applications on the phone will think that you are exactly where you pointed on the map. In the respective programs and services, you can search for people or places of interest in any area.

Removing the "For Developers" item from the menu
Removing options For developers it is possible, but only for certain phones. For most models, the only option for sure to remove this item from the menu is to reset the phone to factory settings.

Certain models (for example, HTC One (M8) with stock Android) allow you to remove this item from options without a full reset, owners of, for example, Galaxy S5 and LG G3 will either have to live with this item or do a full reset (wipe) the phone.

Go to Settings-> Applications-> Settings and click on "Erase data". This method can work on different phones and tablets.
