Programmer, investor and entrepreneur James Altusher has been at the bottom at least 10 times in his life (fired, divorced, bankrupt, and so on, sometimes all at the same time) and each time he was rescued by the concept of daily practice. Here's what it consists of:

- Physical

It is important to be in shape, to play sports in one form or another. I used to get up every morning at 5 in the morning and play basketball until 6. Every day (except rainy ones). Now I try to do yoga every day.

All you need to do is work out enough to sweat for 10 minutes. This is not necessary in order to achieve some outstanding results, but in order to simply be healthy. Because you cannot be happy if you are not healthy. These activities will also help you think better and deal with daily worries. If you can breathe easily when your body is under stress, you can do so in difficult daily situations.

Here are a few more points that are part of physical health:

1) get up at 4-5 am

2. Go to bed at 8.30-9 (sleep 8 hours is good!)

3. Don't eat after 5:30. You cannot sleep well if your food is not overcooked.

- Emotional

If someone negatively affects my emotions, I get rid of them. If someone positively influences my emotions, I bring them closer. And there is no one here untouchable. Family, friends, people I love - I always try to be there and come to the rescue. But I don't approach anyone who negatively affects my emotions. This rule cannot be violated. Energy goes out when someone drains you. And I don't have to explain anything to anyone. Explanation is also exhaustion.

Another important rule is to always be honest. It's fun. Today nobody is honest and people are afraid of it. Try to be honest one day (but don't hurt). It's amazing how wide the boundaries of honesty are. Another takeaway from this: I never do what I don't want. For example, I never go to weddings.

- Mental

Every day I write down ideas. I jot down so many ideas that it seems like I'll hurt my head if I come up with just one more. Then I try to jot down five more ideas. The other day I was trying to compile a list of 100 alternatives that kids can devote to instead of going to college. I wrote down eight. I couldn't think of any more. The next day I wrote down 40 more. It definitely developed my mind.

No ideas today? Memorize all the two-letter words that can be used when playing Scrabble. Translate Tao Te Ching into Spanish. Write the titles of 30 chapters for your autobiography. Come up with 10 businesses you can start from home. Think of 20 ways Obama can improve America. Write down all the productive things you did yesterday (this will improve your memory as well).

The "idea muscle" atrophies every day if you don't use it. It is just like walking. If you don't walk for a week, your legs will atrophy. Therefore, you need to train your idea generation muscle. Development takes 3-6 months on average if it has completely atrophied.

- Spiritual

Most people don't like the word spiritual. They immediately think it has to do with God and religion. But this is not the case. Actually, I don't know what this means. But I feel like I am doing something similar to spiritual practice when I do one of the following things:

1. Pray. It doesn't matter if I'm praying to God, dead people, the sun, or the chair opposite me. Prayer is simply to be grateful. Do not take all the credit for yourself. Just for a few seconds a day.

2. I meditate. It is difficult to do this for more than a few minutes. It's boring. In another article, I give advice on 60 second meditations. You can also meditate for 15 seconds by imagining that you are meditating for 60 minutes. Here's a simple way to meditate: sit in a chair, straighten your back, watch your breathing. If you get distracted, that's okay. Just go back to watching your breath. Try this for 5 minutes. Then 6 minutes, and so on.

3. I feel grateful. I try to remember everyone to whom I am grateful for anything in my life. Then I try to remember more people, and more. It's complicated.

4. Forgive. I represent everyone who has done anything bad to me. Then I imagine that I am grateful to them.

5. I study. If I read a spiritual text (it doesn't matter the Bible, Tao Te Ching, anything Zen-related, or just an inspirational book on self-development) I usually feel better. It is not as powerful as prayer or meditation (since it doesn't train your mind to chop off nonsense), but it still makes you feel better.

- As a result of doing this practice in all four areas:

1. After 1 month, I noticed that coincidences began to occur. I was starting to feel better. People started to smile at me more.

2. After 3 months I really started to get a lot of ideas, and I felt an irresistible desire to start implementing them.

3. After 6 months, good ideas began to come to me, I began to implement them, and everything turned out in such a way that those around me helped me in this.

4. After 1 year, my life has always completely changed. 100% compared to a year ago. More money, more luck, more health, and so on. And then I got lazy and stopped doing my daily practice. And everything fell apart again. Today I try to stick to all four points unswervingly.
