Only a large sum of money will decide the fate of a "huge number" of confidential data.

Boeing has faced threats from Lockbit cybercriminals, who claim they will soon start publishing the company's confidential data if their ransom demands are not met by November 2.

On its darknet page, the group launched a countdown for Boeing, stating that hackers have a "huge amount" of confidential information that they are ready to release after the deadline.

"We are analyzing this statement," Boeing representatives commented.

Lockbit is recognized as one of the most well-known hacker groups that often use ransomware in their activities to block victims ' files and then demand a ransom for unlocking them.

According to the company NCC Group, the LockBit group last September became the leader in the number of attacks on organizations, arranging, according to available data, 79 ransomware attacks. In general, hackers have held the undisputed leadership in the industry for quite some time.

It is noteworthy that recently many hacker groups, like LockBit, are gradually moving away from the tactics of double extortion and simply steal secret documents, then demanding a monetary reward for non-disclosure.

It is likely that from the point of view of psychology, potential victims are willing to pay for non-disclosure of data more willingly than if their entire business is paralyzed due to the actions of intruders.
