AI will create the perfect fake personas for intelligence and espionage.

The U.S. Department of Defense is considering using generative AI to create fake online personas. According to The Intercept, the request filed by the Special Operations Command (JSOC) expressed interest in developing technologies that allow you to create realistic users to work on social platforms and other Internet resources.

JSOC aims to provide special forces with technology that can generate online identities using images of faces, backgrounds, videos, and sounds. The main goal is to use these fake profiles to collect information from open online forums and other public sources.

In recent years, the Pentagon has already been actively using various methods of digital surveillance and information influence on the Internet. However, the plan to use AI in such operations represents a new step in the development of online intelligence. In 2023, the Department of Defense has already stated its interest in deep fakes as a tool of influence within the programs of the Special Operations Command (SOCOM), seeking more complex and large-scale technologies.

The situation is escalating against the backdrop of the upcoming presidential elections in the United States. The 2025 project, developed by Donald Trump's allies, includes plans to increase surveillance and espionage operations with the help of AI, which, according to experts, could become a new standard for defense structures.

However, the Pentagon's growing reliance on AI is a concern. Experts warn that the use of such technologies for disinformation could encourage other countries to do the same, making it harder to distinguish between truth and fiction in the global political sphere.
