The best employees: TOP-5 robots that work in banks.

In addition to special programs, chat bots and applications, humanoid robots are also taking over their place in the banking sector. They can work around the clock and perform many times more tasks than a human. However, they will never ask for a day off, a raise or a raise.

While some banks only dream of such super-employees, others are already willing to hire them. On Banker's Day, PaySpace Magazine introduces readers to the next generation of bankers. All of them have already been employed in foreign financial institutions.

Pepper Robot
Pepper is probably the most popular and well-known humanoid robot in the banking environment. Its key characteristic is the ability to recognize human emotions and adapt their behavior to them. At the same time, the robot moves smoothly and has different voice intonations. The robot was developed by a large corporation SoftBank, which uses it in its 140 stores in Japan. Pepper also works in restaurants, hotels, clinics and shops around the world to welcome, inform and entertain customers. Some Japanese families even accepted him.

The Pepper robot is employed by several banks around the world.

Among banks, the first to offer Pepper a job was the large Japanese banking group Mizuho back in 2015 - this was the first time a robot was hired by a bank. Since then, Pepper has worked for banks in Canada (ATB Financial), UAE (Emirates NBD), South Africa (Nedbank), etc. Most recently - June 26 - Pepper also got a job in New York, at the headquarters of HSBC. His responsibilities usually include informing clients about the services (in different languages), self-service advice and answering basic questions. By the way, he can still pose for selfies with clients and invite them to take a quiz with questions about financial literacy.

Robot NAO
Another brainchild of SoftBank Robotics is the humanoid robot NAO (read as English Now). This is the older brother of the Pepper robot - it appeared back in 2006 and has been constantly improving since then. More than 10 thousand of these babies have already been sold around the world - the height of the NAO is only 58 cm.

NAO lends itself well to personalization thanks to the special Choregraphe software, which contributes to its readiness to be adopted by families. Thus, the personality of a robot can be enriched with various character traits, knowledge, skills, content and interaction possibilities.

In addition to educational institutions, shops, households and various companies, NAO operates in one of the largest Japanese banks, Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ. There, in Japanese, English and Chinese, he helps clients with various requests - from informing how to open an account, to advice on what to do if a client loses a card. As a bonus, the robot is great at dancing and posing for a photo.

Xiao Long Robot
Xiao Long (Little Dragon) is a robot employee at China Construction Bank's first fully automated branch in Shanghai. Only robots work in this department. In addition, the department uses face recognition technologies, virtual reality and artificial intelligence.

When a customer visits such a branch for the first time, his ID is scanned, and then the robot issues him a number in the queue. On subsequent visits, the user will be identified using face recognition technology.

Robots can communicate with visitors and respond to client requests. Built-in smart ATMs allow users to open accounts, make money transfers, foreign exchange transactions and some asset management activities.

The screens have special QR codes that allow customers to pay for services and even play games in augmented reality. Also, using VR, the user can view bank rental offers.

For those who need to communicate with a bank employee, there is a separate room with the possibility of video chat.

IRA robot
Indian bank HDFC has developed its own robot for its branches. AI company Asimov Robotics contributed to the development of the first version of the IRA (Interactive Robotic Assistant), while Invento Makerspaces and Senseforth Technologies also worked on the new version 2.0, presented in April.

HDFC became the first Indian bank to offer a job to a robot. IRA's intelligent humanoid robots now operate in several of its branches across the country.

The main goal of the IRA is to improve the convenience and level of customer service. It can interact with branch visitors, answer banking-related inquiries, frequently asked questions, and help them navigate the branch using voice navigation - the robot has a built-in GPS and a speech recognition module that understands what customers are saying. The robot also uses an ultrasonic sensor to move around the branch and an algorithm like FaceID to recognize customers' faces.

Jiaojiao Robot
Jiaojiao is a 90 cm Chinese humanoid robot with a rectangular face and a wide smile. China's Bank of Communications hired him as a receptionist. His responsibilities include greeting customers, answering inquiries, promoting the bank and voice services. In addition, he can talk about nearby tourist attractions, public transport timetables, etc. And the robot can also sing - when children are with him, he can sing for them a children's song, popular in China.

The robot understands natural speech and can analyze the human voice. He processes and remembers the voices of customers, so that he identifies them on subsequent visits and can refer to them by name. He also recognizes the gender and age of the client and adjusts his behavior in accordance with them.

Jiaojiao was developed back in 2015 by Nanjing University of Science, Electronic Information Technology Corporation and a consortium of Chinese tech companies.

China's Bank of Communications notes that the cute robot relieves stress during peak office hours by entertaining customers.
