According to the British financial company Barclays, the company's clients currently spend £ 6.6 million ($ 10.9 million) each month using contactless cards, according to the Internet portal Finextra.

The latest data from Barclaycard show that the number of contactless payments has tripled since 2020. At the same time, experts believe that in 2021, 90 million transactions will be carried out using contactless payments.

In February 2021 alone, Barclays customers made 5.3 million contactless payments, up 230% from February 2020. It is expected that by the end of 2014, using contactless cards, bank customers will spend £ 580 million ($ 961 million), for example, in 2013 this amount was £ 300 million ($ 497 million).

It is worth noting that Barclays issued its contactless cards in March 2020 and currently UK residents use about 9 million of the company's contactless debit cards, as well as 9.5 million of Barclaycards' contactless cards . In addition, the bank has installed 300 thousand terminals that support contactless payments, and currently processes about 50% of all contactless transactions in the UK.

As a reminder, in February of this year Barclaycard entered the mPOS terminal market.
