China's response to the global chip market: 'We are here to surprise.

Yangtze Memory Technologies Co (YMTC), a leading memory chip manufacturer in China, has created the "world's most advanced" 3D NAND memory chip. This technological breakthrough was recorded in a report by TechInsights.

The YMTC memory chip was detected in a solid-state drive that was quietly launched in July. The report notes that despite sanctions and being included in the US Commerce Department's Entity List, YMTC continues to develop advanced technologies.

Earlier, TechInsights conducted an analysis of the Kirin 9000S 5G processor, which is located in the Huawei Technologies’ Mate 60 Pro smartphone. This processor is said to have been created by the Chinese company Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp (SMIC). This powerful domestic chip surprised many analysts, given the strict restrictions imposed by the United States.

3D NAND memory is an advanced memory chip design and plays a key role in high-performance computing such as artificial intelligence and machine learning.

In December 2022, YMTC and 21 other major Chinese players in the chip sector were added to the US sanctions list. Despite this, YMTC continues to evolve, and perhaps thanks to the recent downturn in the chip market and a renewed focus on cost savings, the company has been able to step forward with a more advanced chip.

In April, YMTC reported on its latest achievements in memory chip development. Sources said that YMTC has redoubled its efforts to work with Chinese suppliers to produce its most advanced chips.

However, despite all the achievements, experts warn that Chinese companies still have to overcome many challenges in the production of chips to really move forward.
