Hacking the iPhone of local politicians requires a thorough investigation.

Apple will send a team of in-house experts to India in response to local media reports that Indian politicians received warnings on their iPhones about state-Sponsored hacking attacks.

The CERT-IN agency earlier this month already received several complaints from opposition politicians about hacking their mobile devices and notified Apple about this.

It is not yet known how reliable these complaints are, and a month has already passed since the first reports of the threat. However, it is quite possible that the situation has escalated, and more victims are facing the threat. Anyway, the Cupertino company reacted as seriously as possible and assembled a team that will go to India.

Apple's research team will include cybersecurity experts and other technical specialists who will find out whether the warnings about hacking were justified.

Apple itself, however, is usually skeptical that claims of threats related to government hackers are genuine. This is largely due to the fact that such attacks are extremely expensive to implement and are therefore very rare.

"State-backed attacks are extremely complex, cost millions of dollars, and often have a short lifetime," the company said in an official statement. "The vast majority of users will never be targeted by such attacks."

The described turmoil in India clearly demonstrates that, although targeted attacks on Apple devices are difficult to implement, they are still possible. In this regard, users of Apple products, as well as users of any other mobile equipment, should be more careful and always install official security updates on time. Especially if the scope of these people's activities itself implies risks.
