Apple has provided users with the long-awaited opportunity to complain about App Store scams.

Apple has made it possible for its users to report fraudulent apps in the App Store by adding a new and improved Report a Problem button.

According to security researchers Richard Mazkewich and Kosta Eleftheriou, the button has not only appeared on the page of every app in the store, it now has a drop-down menu with the option "Report Fraud".

Before iOS 15, in order to find this button, you had to scroll down the entire "Applications" or "Games" table in the App Store and go to the site, where you need to log in again. There users could select the option "Report Suspicious Activity", "Report Quality Issue", "Request a Refund" or "Find My Content". However, none of these options provided a simple, straightforward way to report fraud, and the "Report Suspicious Activity" button directed users to Apple's support page. Moreover, it was only possible to report a quality problem if the user paid money and thus fell victim to a scam.

However, it now appears to have a "Report a Problem" button on the page of every free app with paid content. After clicking on it, the user is still redirected to the site where he needs to log in again, but despite this, the appearance of the button is a big step forward.

The big question, of course, is whether Apple will somehow respond to these complaints. Apple has only 500 people reviewing apps. By comparison, Facebook has 15,000 content moderators, while Google has 20,000.

Interestingly, some progress has also been outlined in this direction. According to Eleftheriu, on September 8, Apple posted an advertisement for the search for people for the position of "ASI Investigator".

"The ASI Investigator is responsible for investigating fraudulent applications and trends, as well as implicated developers," the job description said.

Currently, the vacancy has already been withdrawn.
