Anonymous digital artist stole $ 142,000 from connoisseurs of crypto art

Iconics' NFT project based on Solana was the brainchild of an unknown 17-year-old digital artist.

As part of a collection called Iconics, the author of the project promised to implement 8000 NFTs focused on "quality art".

The works consisted of 3D images of busts of various characters. The artist posted 14 digital works on Discord as examples.

According to cryptoslate, the artist exhibited 2,000 images for 0.5 SOL (roughly $ 142,000 at current exchange rates), which quickly sold out.

However, instead of NFT, users received random sets of emojis, and the author of the project himself disappeared with stolen funds, deleting accounts.
