27-year-old resident of the American Buffalo (New York) pleaded guilty to buying unauthorized access devices (most likely, meaning stolen credit card data) on the Genesis Market site. According to the US Department of Justice, Wul Isaac Chol can go to jail for up to 10 years for spending as little as $ 105.

"Purchases made on the Genesis Market were paid for in cryptocurrencies. Between June 2019 and January 2021, Chol deposited approximately $ 105.08 worth of bitcoins into an account he created on Genesis. These funds were used to purchase 21 packages containing 778 unauthorized access devices," the Ministry of Justice said in a statement.

It is possible that the personal data of Americans obtained in this way was used for fraud in obtaining benefits. In any case, Chol himself pleaded guilty to receiving $ 25,200 from the New York State Department of Labor. Now he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, as well as a fine of 250 thousand dollars.

The final verdict will be handed down on September 13.
