An employee of the Los Angeles Police Department (California) was arrested on suspicion of theft and fraud after he used a card he stole to buy household goods. According to the Los Angeles Times, 42-year-old Edmond Babaians the theft of plastic was committed right in the department of one of the visitors.

The woman who turned to the police did not initially suspect that she herself had become a victim of the cops. She came to investigators complaining about several unauthorized transactions, which was confirmed by bank statements and photographs of the store's security system, which showed a man using her card.

The investigators who studied the photographs were surprised to recognize their colleague in them. The exact amount of money spent by him remains unknown, however, judging by the fact that the investigation has been given criminal status, we are talking about at least $ 950. The head of the city police was forced to issue an official statement in which she noted that the officer had undermined the trust of the population, and this is an extremely alarming signal. The case acquired such a wide public resonance that the mayor of the city also condemned the actions of Babayans.

Babayans himself worked as a police officer for 16 years. Recently, he was assigned to one of the local prisons, where he was eventually arrested. Now he has been released on bail, and the policeman also had to pay bail.
