Under the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Left Bank District Prosecutor's Office of Dnipro, five members of the criminal group were informed of suspicion on the facts of theft, fraud and unauthorized interference in the operation of automated information systems (Part 4 of Article 185, Part 4 of Article 190, Part 2 of Article 361 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspects, involving an employee of the forensic medical examination bureau, stole SIM cards and mobile phones of the dead Ukrainian soldiers on the territory of the morgue.
Among the members of the group was an IT specialist. He changed passwords and gained full access to the online banking of fallen warriors.
In the future, the suspects withdrew cash, issued loans in the names of the victims and transferred money to their own accounts.
Now 20 victims have been identified, the amount of damage caused is almost UAH 1.5 million.
During the searches, mobile phones, computer equipment, SIM cards, military clothing and equipment, and draft records were seized.
Now all members of the group have been given preventive measures in the form of detention.
The special operation was carried out jointly with investigators of the Dnipro regional Police Department of the region, with operational support of employees of the Department of Countering Cybercrime in the region and the Department of Cybersecurity of the SBU.
