Bommaluru Lakshmipathi, a 23-year-old computer science graduate from the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), was arrested by Bangalore police on suspicion of multiple attacks on Reward 360, a company that operates loyalty systems for corporate customers, and stealing credit card bonus points in the amount of 41.6 million rupees (more than 48 million rubles).).

According to the India Times, the Indian kept most of this amount in gold and silver bars, as well as in Flipkart and Amazon wallets. He also bought seven expensive motorcycles. Details of the scheme were not disclosed. It is known that Lakshmipati started his illegal activities while still studying at the university.

Once he had a problem with his credit card, which the bank could not resolve by offering him a gift voucher as an apology. After some thought, Lakshmipati managed to find a way to hack into the Reward 360 databases and register his bank card number in various vouchers for other people's names. As a result, the Indian was arrested after only three months of investigation.

All that is known about the burglar himself is that he comes from a rather poor family of farmers. He kept all his precious metals right in the house of his parents, who did not even know that they were next to such wealth. The Lakshmipati case was the largest of all the cybercrimes of 2023 in India.
