Investigators of the Investigative Committee for the Brest region are establishing the circumstances of fraud in the provision of advertising services on the Internet. This was reported to BelTA by the Investigative Committee.

According to the investigation, a 25-year-old man took possession of citizens' money under the pretext of promoting Instagram business accounts and distributing targeted advertising on Facebook. He looked for pages that presented a list of services and products, offered account owners his help in promoting the brand and promised a quick result for a small amount. After receiving money on a bank card, the swindler created the appearance of work. Then he informed clients about the need for additional cash injections, which he lured until the victims demanded a report on the work done. Then the defendant blocked the customers and did not get in touch.

Deceived citizens began to turn to law enforcement agencies.

Investigators initiated criminal cases of fraud against a resident of Pinsk, which are combined in one proceeding in the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee for the Brest region.

Law enforcement officers examined the correspondence, studied voice audio recordings. It was established that in order to mislead the victims, the suspect used professional vocabulary that was unfamiliar to a wide range of people. Sometimes his explanations were reduced to an incoherent set of terms that did not carry a semantic load. It also became known that in two years, the suspect took possession of the money of more than 100 victims throughout the country in the amount of about Br60 thousand.

The suspect was detained, with the approval of the prosecutor, a preventive measure in the form of detention was applied to him.
