Employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Novosibirsk region detained a 31-year-old resident of Ob, who since 2018 has been stealing cryptocurrency from Internet users using malware.
According to investigators, the man bought "malicious programs for stealing user passwords" on closed Internet resources, with the help of which he had been engaged in "cryptocurrency theft"since 2018. More than 1 thousand network users became victims of the hacker, " the press service said.
Investigators opened a criminal case against the man under Part 1 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code of Russia "Creation, use and distribution of malicious computer programs". Currently, additional operational measures are being taken to identify other episodes of illegal activities of the suspect.
