Elon says that the stream did not start on time due to a Ddos attack. It looks like he's lying.
On Monday evening, the long-awaited interview of Elon Musk with former US President Donald Trump was to take place on the X Spaces platform. However, the event, scheduled for 20: 00 Eastern time, had to be postponed due to serious technical problems.
There was a glitch immediately after the broadcast started, and the interview didn't start until 42 minutes later. Those who managed to connect to the platform reported that lo-fi music was streamed from Trump's account for about 30 minutes.
18 minutes after the scheduled start of the call, Musk said that X was the target of a "large-scale DDoS attack." However, the rest of X seemed to work fine. A source in the company confirmed that in fact there was no denial-of-service attack. According to another employee, "there is a 99 percent chance" that Musk lied about the attack.
In a series of follow-up posts, Musk claimed that the company tested the system with 8 million listeners on Monday. When the interview finally started, around 8:40 p.m., XN-Space was listening to 915,000 people.
Musk repeated the statement about the DDoS attack when the broadcast still started. "As this massive attack shows, the opposition simply doesn't want people to hear President Trump's words," he said. Probably, if the billionaire still lied, his words were some kind of political manipulation.
The failure to start the interview reminded me of the events of 2023, when Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced his participation in the presidential race on X. Then the event was also accompanied by technical problems, which Elon explained by server overload.
Experts from The Register also found no evidence of a DDoS attack directed at X. The Check Point Software cyber threat map did not record unusual levels of activity at the time of the broadcast. NetScout's real-time DDoS attack map showed only small attacks in the US.
When the interview finally began, it included rhetoric and statements familiar to fans of both contestants. Trump has criticized the Biden administration's policies, called his political opponents dangerous radicals and warned of negative consequences for the United States if he is not elected. He also made several cryptic statements, including mentioning "nuclear warming."
Both interlocutors complained about excessive regulation as a drag on business and innovation, calling for reforms. They found a common language on the development of high-speed intercity transport infrastructure, although Trump prefers trains, and Musk preferred to rely on underground tunnels.
During the conversation, the topic of technology was also touched upon. Trump expressed concern that the potential of artificial intelligence may not be realized due to the current energy policy, which gives priority to renewable sources. "AI requires twice as much energy as the United States currently produces," the politician said. Musk also expressed the opinion that solar generation in the future will become the main source of energy in the United States.
Summing up, we can say that this interview, despite the technical difficulties, was a bright event that demonstrated both the capabilities and limitations of modern platforms for online broadcasts. It also provided the audience with an opportunity to hear the opinions of two influential figures on a wide range of topical issues-from politics and economics to technology and future energy.
