Operation Synergia is a large-scale anti-malware operation.

Interpol announced that during an international operation, law enforcement agencies detained 31 suspected cybercriminals and identified more than 1,300 malicious servers that were used to conduct phishing attacks and distribute malware.

According to an Interpol statement, the operation called Operation Synergy, which took place from September to November 2023, was launched in response to the active growth, escalation and professionalization of transnational cybercrime, as well as the need for coordinated action against new cyber threats.

Results of an international operation

The operation involved law enforcement agencies from 55 countries and several private companies. 70% of the identified Command and Control (C2) servers were destroyed-mainly in Europe, Hong Kong and Singapore - and other servers are currently in the hands of special services.

In addition to 31 arrests, Interpol identified 70 other suspects responsible for phishing attacks, the distribution of banking malware and ransomware. During the investigation, major cybercrime groups were uncovered, but their names and origin are not specified.
