Although Telegram is a well-protected messenger - there was not a single leak or suspicion of cooperation with special services - there is always a human factor. To accurately protect yourself from account hijacking or theft of valuable data, follow these tips:

1. Urgently enable two-factor authentication, if you have not already done so. So you will not lose your profile if the SMS is intercepted. This can be done even by a well-trained schoolboy, not to mention the special services. “Settings” → “Privacy” → “Two-Step Verification”.

2. Deny inviting yourself to channels and groups. Then it will be much more difficult for hackers to implement the popular scheme with a trap channel. "Settings" → "Privacy" → "Groups" → "My contacts".

3. Enable passcode. If someone gains access to your device, they will not be able to log into Telegram - your password will protect against unauthorized entry. "Settings" → "Privacy" → "Passcode".

4. Turn off the visibility of the phone number and profile display when forwarding messages. So no one will be able to find out which number the account is registered to. And if suddenly your message from the chat / dialogue is forwarded where it should not, your profile will be hidden. Also in "Settings" → "Privacy" → the corresponding fields.

5. Use secret chats. Their main charm: even if by some miracle someone got into your account, he will not read the secret chats. Moreover, with each new authorization (even from the same device), the secret chats are reset. It is very reliable. Secret chat is created by clicking on the "pencil".
