He used the vulnerability to double his tokens and exchange them for ETH.
The creators of the blockchain game Super Sushi Samurai, which uses the Blast platform and is available via Telegram, announced the theft of $4.6 million in a cyber attack. The money was withdrawn by a white hacker who claimed that his actions were aimed at protecting users.
In its announcement, the Super Sushi Samurai (SSS) team reported on the hack and the ongoing investigation. After some time, it turned out that the white hacker used the vulnerability to transfer funds, in order to protect users, and asked the developers to contact him.
The developer of smart contracts Coffee from Yuga Labs revealed that the cause of the incident was a flaw that allows users to double their tokens when withdrawing them from the game balance. With the help of a bug, a white hacker emptied liquid pools on decentralized exchanges, exchanging game tokens for 1,310 WETH, which is equivalent to $4.6 million.
Negotiations with the hacker led to the fact that Super Sushi Samurai hired him as a technical consultant, and also paid a reward of 5% of the withdrawn amount, as well as an additional 2.5% in SSS tokens.
