Hey guys, there are 2 Addons for your browser I really recommend if you dont already have them. I personally use them in firefox for my everyday browsing but if you use another browser they should have similar plugins, probably from even the same developers. Simply go to your addons/extensions page such as https://addons.mozilla.org/en-CA/firefox/ and search for these:

#1 WebRTC Leak Shield OR Disable WebRTC

These are two highly rated/reviewed addons. WebRTC allows websites to get your actual IP address from BEHIND your VPN. These shields both serve the same purpose and FIXES that issue and makes your VPN more effective by changing browser-wide settings in Firefox.(or dedicated browser)

#2 HTTPS Everywhere

HTTPS Everywhere is an extension to protect your communications by enabling HTTPS encryption automatically on sites that are known to support it, even when you type URLs that direct you to other source than https: prefix.

Many sites on the web offer some limited support for encryption over HTTPS, but make it difficult to use. For instance, they may default to the unencrypted HTTP site, or fill encrypted pages with links that go back to the unencrypted site. The HTTPS Everywhere extension fixes these problems by rewriting all requests to these sites to HTTPS.

Good rule of thumb to check your prefix links when you visit websites right away and keep on lookout for HTTPS prefix, rather HTTP

Hope this helps you, #icymid
