By the beginning of this year, the Belarusian Interior Ministry registered 1,300 cybercriminals, which include hackers, carders, Internet scammers and other unpleasant personalities.

This year, 847 crimes involving the use of computer equipment were committed in Belarus, including 334 crimes against information security. In the first quarter, 257 such crimes were recorded, of which 196 were against information security.

Igor Chernenko, Head of the Department for solving crimes in the field of high technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country, cybercrime is developing. If from 1998 to 2001, its structure was dominated by the facts of theft from foreign online stores using stolen credit card details, now hacker attacks on the websites of state and commercial institutions and the introduction of electronic data exchange are very widespread.

But 1,300 people are, of course, very few. Belarus has a lot to strive for.
