Yeah the fact that you can see what the +rep is for should be enough to help you avoid scams. The whole reason the rep system is there imo is to leave feedback for a transaction or something that benefited you in advancing as a carder (i.e a tutorial). Giving +rep for freebies is a bad idea imo...
