New data from Visa suggests that consumers are spending more on online purchases these days than ever before. Visa network e-commerce sales topped $ 1 billion per day for 188 days in the nine months of this year. This demonstrates the trend that billion dollar days have become the norm rather than the exception.

The data is in line with results from Visa's recent How We Pay Survey. According to the study, 27% of smartphone users and 24% of tablet owners have used their mobile devices to make an online purchase in the past 12 months. The significant growth in mobile commerce is also driving the growth of online sales. This resulted in Visa processing accounting for 48% of all global e-commerce payments in the first nine months of this year, up 16% from the same period last year.

The trend suggests that the growth of online commerce will continue, according to the international payment provider.

As a reminder, a few days ago it was reported that a Cross-Border E-Commerce Community was created in Europe.
