Now you can remove political content from your Instagram and Threads feeds.

Meta, the company that owns popular social networks Instagram and Threads, has launched a new feature that allows users to restrict political content in their feeds. This measure is designed to make the use of platforms more comfortable for everyone.

According to the Meta definition, political content includes any publication related to governments, elections, or social issues that affect groups of people or society as a whole. In other words, almost all content can be considered political.

The new feature is enabled by default for all users. In a statement, the company said: "If you choose to subscribe to accounts that publish content related to the policy, we will not interfere. However, we also don't want to proactively recommend political content to you from accounts that you don't subscribe to." In other words, if you enable this feature, it will limit the visibility of certain posts in the Explore, Reels, Feed recommendations, and suggested accounts sections.

Users can check if the new feature is available in their app, or disable it in the Instagram settings. To do this, go to the "Recommended Content" section, where the "Political Content" tab will appear. If you set restrictions, unwanted posts will still not disappear completely – Under the options, there is an explanation: "In recommendations, you will less often come across posts on political and social topics." Regardless of the selected setting, it will work in both Instagram and Threads.
