FSB officers detained a hacker who illegally obtained information about login and password pairs from electronic payment instruments for the subsequent theft of large amounts of money, the press service of the Russian Federal Security Service for the Tyumen region reports.
"As a result of operational search activities, employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Tyumen region stopped the illegal activities of a Russian citizen who illegally accessed Russian and foreign Internet resources, receiving information about login and password pairs from electronic payment instruments in order to subsequently steal funds on a large scale," the report says.
Money obtained by criminal means, he withdrew through an electronic wallet to a bank card and spent at his discretion.
The Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation "Golyshmanovsky" opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal access to computer information that caused major damage). The maximum penalty under the article is up to 4 years in prison.
Currently, the RUFSB establishes other episodes of his illegal activities.
