The Prosecutor's office of the Kruglyansky district supported in court the state prosecution in a criminal case against a 19 – year-old resident of the Kruglyansky district-he was charged with illegal distribution of bank payment card details and authentication data, as well as theft on a particularly large scale, including by modifying computer information.
As it was established during the judicial investigation, the accused in one of the messengers drew attention to an ad about searching for individuals who would provide Internet banking accounts of the bank's mobile application for a fee.
Wanting to get material benefits, the young man opened such accounts for himself and his mother. After that, he provided them via the Internet to another person, from whom he received money for this.
Having decided to continue "easy" earnings, the accused posted an advertising offer on his page in another mobile application, in which he asked his subscribers to send him account details in the Internet banking application of a certain bank for 15 rubles.
In total, he collected information about the accounts of 37 citizens, which he transferred to a person via the Internet from July to December 2022, for which he received more than 3.8 thousand rubles.
By selling information that contained information about bank accounts that were fictitiously opened for other persons, as well as information that allowed them to be opened, the accused contributed to the theft of money from other citizens, to whom the attackers called and introduced themselves as bank employees and law enforcement officers. In particular, they asked victims to install programs that they could use to manage the Internet banking application.
Using the information provided by the accused on the accounts to which the funds stolen from 16 citizens were transferred, more than 148 thousand rubles were transferred in November-December 2022.
The accused pleaded not guilty at the hearing. Giving explanations and being interrogated more than once as a suspect and accused, he explained the circumstances of the commission of these acts.
Based on the evidence presented by the State prosecutor, the Kruglyansky District Court issued a guilty verdict. On the basis of part 1 and part 2 of Article 222, Part 6 of Article 16 and Part 4 of Article 209, Part 6 of Article 16 and Part 4 of Article 212, Part 1 of Article 173 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, the accused was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 6 years with a fine of 250 basic units (10 thousand rubles) to be served in a high-security penal colony.
In addition, the court recovered property damage and compensation for non-pecuniary damage from the accused in favor of the victims.
